Buckskin Leather

These hides come from a farm local to my shop, I have processed and tanned them all by hand using a traditional method which involves eggs (as the tanning agent) and smoke (to finish and cure the hide). This is how Buckskin leather has been produced for Millennia - well, brains would have been used traditionally but they aren't so easy to get hold of these days!

Each hide represents over 40 hours of intensive labour to get to this stage. If you know what you are looking at then you will understand just how rare this type of leather is and how hard it is to come by made in this traditional manner.
